Also, what does “Ate” mean?
In Tagalog, “ate” (ah-teh) means older sister. Saying “ate” shows closeness, trust, and affection, reflecting how Filipino culture values care, guidance, and family-like bonds.
In my doula work, “ate” captures the role I strive to hold. Someone steady, nurturing, and reassuring during a deeply personal time.
What even is a doula anyway?
Great question! A doula’s role comes down to three things:
Practical support through childbirth and health education, so you walk in knowing what to expect.
Heartfelt emotional support through pregnancy and birth. We’ll laugh together, too — there’s room for joy here.
Advocacy that empowers you to advocate for yourself, in the room and everywhere else.

Kind words from past clients
They say that when you give birth you will forever remember your doctor and nurses faces/names during labor and for me Samantha is one of them! I don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have Samantha by my side during my labor! She supported me during pregnancy and made me feel really supported on what’s to come! One of my favorite memories would be how she really took care of me during labor and was helping me through the most painful contractions. Every contraction that came, she was there easing the pain for me! I couldn’t thank her enough for being such an earth angel and getting me through the longest labor I had. I’m really grateful for how Samantha showed up for me during postpartum! Thank you for creating a safe space for me during all of it, I don’t know what I would have done without you!
